04/11/2025 When I was in college – about 19 to 20 years ago, I got to watch a movie a few times and it was a great film on a missionary’s life, and it has the most beautiful cinematography. It was such a blessing to find films that were good for the soul, and able to be viewed with clean conscience. I’m glad for that, and it really does make a difference what types of films you watch. The best and most holy alternative is probably to read the bible and godly or goodly books only, but having a holy film now and then, is a real blessing.

The story of this missionary in view was depicting the life of Gladys Alward, who became a missionary in China “during the second Sino-Japanese war” (comment straight from the summary under the youtube video). Its tremendous how at the end of the movie, she does a many-mile trek with orphans to get them to safety, and somewhere survives beyond what is fathomable! Be blessed and enjoy this film of God’s goodness in the life of Gladys Alward in “The Inn of the Sixth Happiness”
Ingrid Bergman is also an excellent actress in “Gas-Lighter”, which is another old and good TCM movie classic.
