02/14/2026 In the last several weeks, there has been a “fiery” back-and-forth conversation between Kirk Cameron (from movies “Left Behind” and “Tribulation Force”) and different Christian leaders, and his view on hell being only a place of soul-annihilationism. Wow! Though this is a very old heresy – the idea that when people die, if they’re saved – they’ll be immortal and to to paradise, but if not saved, they’ll just come to a cease-to-exist type of idea – has been a confusing lie around the Church for centuries, and now milennia.

The Lord of truth, Jesus Christ, can help us come to the right ideas when we view what the Scriptures teach about hell. Kirk Cameron is a celebrated teacher, who still tries to ‘tout’ the gospel of Jesus, and seems to be recounted as recently have taken some of the fire out of it, quite literally. He is very moved by family and friends who are struggling with the idea ethically, and that is a part of the issue; and it is one that has to be overcome. I think this heresy is dangerous, because Jesus teaches very plainly, that Hell is real, is current, going on right now, and that people will go there, and not ever get out. The Lazarus account in Luke 16 always gives me terror, as well as reading in the book of Revelation about the idea of smoke coming up from torment “forever and ever”. Oh Jesus! You are the way out! Please listen to a review of the interview by CBN; my husband and I did a talk on it, hoping to know how to pray and help Kirk, and the dilemma of this souring of the justice of the good gospel of Jesus Christ.
