06/20/2026 Recently, I was watching this phenomenol show with my husband and there are so many good episodes, if you can bear with the blurriness and old audio. It is story after story that delives into the strangeness of the supernatural, often linked with messages about God, Jesus, faith, miracles and the unexplained! I find it very fascinating, but understand that not all episodes are good – like if they’re about magic or spirtualism, or familiar spirits (ghosts coming back as hauntings). We change it to a different thing if we ever see a show that disagrees with the Holy Spirit and Jesus and good conscience. But anyways, there was a phenomena episode about the earthquake in San Francisco in 1906, which strangely enough, occurred 9 days after the revival started – the outpourings of the Holy Spirit in Azusa Street Revival of the time of the Azusa Street Revival in California.

There was a man who was a bellhop, in the episode, who lived a quiet and humble lifestyle working as serving the people in the San Francisco hotel. He used to be a drunkard a lifetime earlier, but had given his life to reform and was doing his best to stay on the narrow path. He was working one day when temptation to drink flared in his face, and he refused; and then shortly after he had a vision of an earthquake.

The episodes reports he had about 3 visions, and tried to warn people because he knew it was emminent and had something to do with the time of 5:13 on the clock, though it took a while to figure out that was 5:13am, the next day and not 5:13pm like he feared at first; the disaster would strike on April 18, 1906. (Wikipedia said it was 5:12am and not 5:13pm at this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1906_San_Francisco_earthquake). He was terrified, and warned like any sane prophet would, but few people to no one listened. He was accused of being drunk, and out of sorts, and then was hospitalized by the police, it appeared. When the considerate couple he warned got away, it was a harrowing view of “do unto others as they would do unto you” for the warned sober-minded couple; and the prophet perished with the others obscurely in the foreseen quake, while the lucky couple who took an actual precaution escaped sudden destruction. Then over 3,000 Californians perished under stone and fire. I had not ever connected the ideas of earthquake with the Azusa Street revival, because I just learned about the earthquake. My husband told me about the timing significance. Later, I thought about this man: like truth-tellers of the gospel, warners, and unpopular sorts – often like this man, they are knowing something is coming but not being able to articulate that judgment is near. God have mercy to help us heed, warn, run, and yield where its needed in this hour in the church. I do believe we are in a dark time with judgment, but often revival is around at the same times! Jesus is moving all around the world in a great way! God save His remnant; I want to do what is right! “Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel; Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, The remnant will be saved.” (Romans 9:27 NKJV) The Greek says “[only] the remnant” will be saved. In a search, I was trying to figure out what the timing was of the earthquake and revival, and here was a good read on the summary of that era.
