Recently, I’ve been musing more on how when believers get together, it is vital for them to be able to have a moment where they can recollect what God is doing in their lives, in order to share it with others. Prayer following is great too! Sometimes, I have been to and seen meetings, where there is the sharing of time together, as in listening to a speaker. I wish there were more sharing, and not only listening to a speaker, though everything has its place. I have to say, though, that my most favorite time in the Lord, upon reflecting back to it, are those when I’ve been able to say what God has done in my life, whether with friends talking, or in a bible meeting session, or being in a service that is more casual, or with my family, or with even a stranger, if I can testify to something good that God has done for me. I am saddened when I think about how many times I see people I love, and miss opportunities to share or better yet, to let them share what the Lord is teaching them. And I think it true, sometimes too, that possibly a soul can be a listening ear, to gather what another person is going through, without them needing to say the words, but rather listening to the overflow of their speech, listening to their heart.
Some verses come to mind when I think about such sharing of testimony, that is telling others about what good (or bad), positive or negative things they are talking to God about, and where they are seeing His light on their situation. Here are some of the verses and parts of verses:
“Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:15-16 NASV
“What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.” 1 Corinthians 14:26 NASV
“…for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.” Luke 6:45 (end of verse) NASB
“For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:34 (end of verse) BSB
When Jesus returns for His Church, and He is coming soon, just as He said, He will be wanting a bride cleansed by His blood. That means, from what I understand, that the church that is all the believers in Jesus, will need to be ready by confessing and repenting their sins as much as they can. However, I think it also means that our power and overcoming sin will come from us sharing our testimony with people that genuinely love the Lord, and want to go on with Jesus.
“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. “And they overcame him (accuser) because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. “For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.” Revelation 12:10-12
